2026 is about to arrive, almost at the speed of sound! If this coming year is about ‘turn around’, or ‘maximising opportunity’, there will need to be a thinking audit. This is not something that can be done by one’s self satisfactorily, if that opportunity is to be truly transformational. Incremental change can be part of a transformational change; it is all about clarity in thinking at the beginning. Identifying the ‘gaps’ in what has been done and those results and what is sought after and those gaps. Clarity in what is being sought doesn’t come easily – emotion has to be put to one side, trust in others offered for their input, defensiveness eliminated and openness embraced.

Going back to the same people, the same thinking, will stymy new thinking and allow complacency to grow. Reach out to people with actual business experience especially where that is tempered, translated through academic knowledge as well. Seek out people with a wide variety of experiencing, corporate, self employed, various industries, NOT just the industry you are in. The paradigm effect causes myopic response – the need now is to be able to look outside of ‘your’ own experiences and discover true options and then develop plans and implementations to get you there!

The old saying ‘if nothing changes, nothing changes’ is not strictly right. If ‘nothing changes, almost definitely, things will get either worse or opportunities will be lost’!
