That is not in any way to lessen the powerful effect some of these behaviours can have on a family unit. Just that too often it can be self-fulfilling – that’s my experience!

For over 30 years I have worked with people identified as difficult. I have had great success in moving them to not just acceptable behaviours but superlative behaviours.
I undertook a 3-session course recently about working with Mental Health. In all the years I never once considered any of these ‘conditions’ in what I was doing. I saw people behaving because of preconditioning, feeling disconnected, unsure of their place or the appropriate level of skill to undertake their job et al. Most of this was about very poor professional appraisals, lack of appropriate hiring, lack of useful induction and certainly no gap analyse identifying areas to develop.

and that becomes self fulfiling’ has always proved true!
Don’t be bluffed by medico’s or friends (so called through their sympathy and being unsure what / how to act with you), helping to concrete the inevitable; I’m not sure it necessarily is. I know it is if everyone things it is.
Before you bomb my home, I do not know what it is like to live with someone of the behaviours associated with the ‘spectrum’.I do know what it is like to lose a child. I have experienced life. I have experienced many people bursting out of the constrict of a diagnosis.
Those so afflicted and all those around that person need to have more strategies than are currently available apart from the definitive “on the spectrum’!
